Governor Cuomo made $100 million available to help residents, businesses and municipalities recover and build back stronger after devastating flooding along the Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River shorelines in 2017.
Up to $50,000 in residential grant assistance was made available to qualified homeowners in Cayuga, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, Oswego, Wayne and St. Lawrence Counties whose damages exceeded insurance claims and other available aid. Funding assisted with rebuilding and making necessary repairs to stabilize properties from flood damage.
The deadline for homeowners to apply was September 29, 2017. Homeowners wishing to appeal a determination by a Local Program Administrator may do so within (20) business days of receipt of notification that the application was awarded or denied. Please note that appeals based on missing the application deadline are no longer being considered.
A three-member Appeals Committee will consider appeals and all decisions shall be final. The Appeals Committee is the sole arbiter in interpreting the intent and implementation of the Program and related guidelines.
All appeals must be submitted in writing with an explanation as to the basis for reconsideration. A copy of the award or denial letter, and documentation supporting the Applicant’s claim should be included. The appeal will be decided based on the submitted written record. No hearings will be held. Appeals cannot be accepted by phone.
